Grants and Incentives for Renewable Energy in Canada
Up to $10,000 CAD combined in solar + battery
rebates for qualifying BC Hydro customers.

BC Hydro Solar and Battery Rebate Program:
Get up to $5,000 for a grid-connected solar
PV system ($1,000 per kW installed, capped at 50% of eligible
product and installation costs), plus up to an
additional $5,000 for battery storage.
Since April 1, 2026, battery rebates offer two options: a
simple $1,500 flat rebate, or up to $5,000 for customers who
participate in a demand-management program.
Eligibility: Must be a residential BC Hydro or New Westminster Electric Utility (NWEU) account holder. Detached homes, duplexes, and townhomes qualify; individually metered condo suites do not. FortisBC customers are not eligible for this specific program.
Important: As of June 1, 2026, installations must be completed by a Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) certified installer to qualify for the rebate.

Update: The Canada Greener Homes Grant and Loan
are now closed to new applicants as of March 2026. Provincial
programs — like BC Hydro's Solar and Battery Rebate above —
are now the primary source of residential solar incentives.
